1986 Porsche 928 S HatchbackReview

Gt Car Of Brilliance — Great performance on this car. When people say these cars drive like they are on rails they are being conservative. I sticks to the road like white lines. This is likely due to the front engine rear transmission set up. A large V8 powers this car, which is necessary because it is actually quite heavy. For men taller than six feet this is the most comfortable car you can buy, because the seats are fully adjustable and being that its sitting on the ground your legs are comfortably out in front of you. Reasonably price on the market and tonnes of fun. Primary Use: Commuting to work Pros: Love the looks, and the comfort, and the handling is out of this world. Cons: Electrical quirks seem prevalent and its hard to eradicate the gremlins. |

The First Car I Lusted For — The second I saw this car backing out of the garage in the movie Risky Business I knew I was in trouble. When I sold this one I bought a newer version. I guess everyone has a first car infatuation. This was mine. Primary Use: Commuting to work Pros: One of the only cars in the world that looks as good from the back as it does from the front. This car was so much fun to drive and ooozed class. Cons: They are a little expensive to maintain. |

Spectacular In Every Fashion, Fits In Anywhere. — The 928, especially the 85+ cars, are incredibly fast, reliable, comfortable and very well built. The cars age taken into perspective, you really can't do much better. It is bang-for- your-buck ass on road fantastic! Highly recommended. As far as running costs, yes it is more than your average Hyundai, but if you instead compare it to something with more than 3 cylinders, say a Ferrari of the same vintage, it is by far cheaper to own and drive the 928. If you like to drive, buy a Porsche. If you like to repair, buy a Ferrari, Lamborghini, Lotus or Jag. Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.) Pros: Engine, interior layout, build quality, rust resistance Cons: Envy from people |

Extremely Power Full And A Beautiful Noise — I like the shape and appearance of the s4, gt, and gts, i really like the massive 5.0 litre v8 with its 320bhp and 0-60 of just under 6 seconds like the european supercar the lamborghini countach 25th annerversary Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.) Pros: stunning looks , power , speed , noise Cons: none |

Rocketship From The Planet Of The Sharks — One of the first Porsches I ever fell in love with as a kid. We were going to Florida for a family vacation and a gold one passed going the other direction, looked like a gold rocketship. This is an 86.5, meaning it has the 928S4 brakes, and it has rear A/C, which helps since the cabin is like a big fishbowl in terms of the amount of glass. It's an auto, like most 928s, which is all right in my book, since it's more of a GT than a 911, but I do often wish for a standard nonetheless. Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.) Pros: I love the styling Cons: The electronics were too advanced for the technology of their time and are a constant nuisance. |

Never Give Up. — Best looking, most balanced and over engineered Porsche made. Too bad my 911 buddies refused to get it. Has 100,000 miles but it works as new and I'll keep it forever. It is almost as fast as a new 911, rides on rails, can't be be unsettled, and much more comfortable for long rides than any other Porsche. Pros: Fast, composed, comfortable and beautiful Cons: Parts prices are high and few mechanics know how to work on it. |
