This question is a request for confirmation of an earlier response I found very helpful. The reason is one repair estimate that is primarily for replacing the tie rods on our '94 928 includes removing the steering rack at a tremendous cost, while the other estimate says it isn't necessary to remove the steering rack to determine if it is damaged. We don't know what to believe.
While backing out of our garage, the gas pedal stuck and our '94 928, which has about 45,000 miles on it and in excellent condition, made a semi-circle and went over a curb backwards, and knocked down part of our metal fence. Aside from the body and tire damage, both tie rods were damaged (see photos).
