? — easy to build/ modify. factory engine performace is ok to decent for the time, electronic carb leaves much to be desired relatively cheap to mantain but can easily get pricey once modifications have begun, but its the traditional Jeep thimg you wouldn't understand

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: every thing is optoinal

Cons: gas milage

Unstoppable — almost 1/4 million miles and going strong! sure the body rotted away long ago and was replaced with a 4wd Hardware glass tub but the trusty 258 amc six has never let me down! and what better feelind than cruising the back roads with the doors off and top down!

Pros: reliability

Cons: rust

Nearly Last Of The Classic Jeeps... — I had an AMC Jeep before the Chrysler buyout. I opted for a used CJ-7 for the longer wheelbase, as I did not want to contend with the shortened CJ-5. I had a canvas top and doors, and in inclement weather it became uncomfortable! But it was fun to drive, despite any other limitations it may have had.

Pros: I never found anywhere it couldn't go! In a Texas summer, the ability to take the top and doors off was loads of fun!

Cons: The canvas top and doors made it vulnerable to weather conditions, and I grew to particularly hate it when it rained. The windshield bar the top attached to would often loosen, making it a curiousity whether the top would remain on or not. This was also still what I consider early in the age of computer sensors on the engine, and when anything like that went bad (and it did) it was hellish to replace a twenty-five cent part, or expensive to have someone else do it.
