Great looking car I bought this car year & months ago and took it as a project body and drive train was in good cond interior was in a bad shape It took me 8 months gathering interior parts it turned greatApr 23, 2015

I like everything about it. The only thing I don't like is my wife annually asking me when we're going to sell it! Seriously, I have 700+ hours of labor of love in this car - even so far as three coats of POR15 on the under carriage. It's been a pleasure to own and drive. Today's cars are made so you can't even work under the hood - not so with the 84Z!Sep 12, 2013

GREAT CAR! I have a 1984 300zx and I am the original owner. I also have a 1990 300zx and a 2003 350z. I still love driving this car after 29 years. I still drive it just about everyday. I will truly miss the 84 more than the others when it is gone someday. It has been much more comfortable on long trips than the newer Z-Cars. These old 300zx cars are not as fast as the newer cars but are much comfortable to drive, they are quieter inside (less road noise) and a much smoother ride. Mine is a 2+2 and when I fold down the rear seats you can't believe how much room there is back there under the hatchback! The old Z-Cars are also real easy to work on if you like to maintain your cars! There are many places to pick up the parts for the old Z's too, both new and used! Fun Car!Jan 14, 2013

My dad bought this car new for my mom. It had been stored for 10 years when I started driving it because my daughter needed a car for college and I gave her my sentra. We got a new battery and repaired a leak in the radiator and it runs great. It is all original in like new condition. These are incredible cars! Now my daughter is waiting for her turn at it.May 21, 2011

car is in great shape, runs and drives tight, quick but still good mileage and fun to drive. Only thing i worry about is finding parts, accessorizes and chrome engine parts to doll her up and make it MY personal car Mar 12, 2011

This is a very nimble and fun car to drive. I only drive it on sunny days with the T-tops out. It is all original and I bought it from a family member who bought it new at 62 years old. Lots of looks from folks. Leather seats with the turbo stitching in them. The interior and exterior are all original and in great shape.Feb 20, 2011

I love the engine that was put in the car. The transmission is not the best and the cable controlled clutch is slow to react. I have a hydraulic clutch and it gives a faster response reaction time. The handling is pretty good if your in sport mode, but if I put it in full or neutral the car is harder to control at higher speed. The car has alot of grounding and electrical issues. The body style is not very upgradeable but it still has its perks. The leather seats like to split at the seams. This car is very fun despite all of the problems its can have.Dec 20, 2010

basically bought this car after crashing my firebird, was fast as all hell but it broke down withing 3 weeks which was most likely my fault for drag racing a 27 year old car but heck it was fun while it lastedAug 12, 2010

I bought this car brand new and when I did I thought "I will never sell this car". I have taken care of it that way ever since. It has taken me 167k on the original motor which has never been rebuilt. The tranny has been rebuilt and most of the rubber stuff under the hood has been replaced along with the starter alternator, water pump(many), timing belts (many) and lots of tires. I have totally redone the suspension including a bigger sway bar on front and rear with KYBs, Eibach springs and just recently added a Cusco strut brace bar. Over the years the car has been a sunday driver longer then a daily driver, which it was only for the first 10 years of its life. Since then, only a sunday car and always garaged. All the rust that I got on it has been cut out (not much but they rust regardless). The stereo is completely swapped out...BTW, this is a non-turbo, I couldn't afford the insurance when I was 23 when bought the car. My leather is also nice, a few places needed fixing but the main faces of the leather are original. Overall if you take of this car people and show it to people they will look at you today and say (what is this thing). While a 370 is way faster and can out handle my old Z, the old girl still gets around and turns heads now that most of them are trashed and in the junk yard. Aug 02, 2010

Good looking, fast, talks to me, built to last and it will get up and GO, besides the fact that it is 26 years old it does not have very many problems, it is one HECK of a ride and is fun no matter whether the roof is off or not :DJun 28, 2010

This was my junk Turbo 300zx. I bought it for 1,000 to use it as a swap for the engine and manual transmission. It was fun to drive, but glad I sold it. It was no showroom car at all.Jun 15, 2010

Digital Dash. computer voice- warns of open doors and e-brake. Turbo. sexy. Manual. Its blue. 5-speed. it was my fathers for 15 years and now its rightfully mine and i am very very very happy with it even after all these years. the interior and outside are pretty beat up and she runs when she wants to but im gonna fix that.Jan 07, 2010

performance - stock 2jz engine is nice... build quality - its an old car so sometimes it rattles but much better than locally made proton cost of ownership - not much if no problems. if got problems, its a bit painful appearance - with the recent repaint, look much better!Sep 18, 2009

Zbeast! The Definition of amazing, Sexy, and orgasmic. It doesnt get much better than a 1st Generation Nissan 300zx with a Turbo V6. You get to walk mustangs and stupid lil hondas/toyotas/and the like all day long. ZBEAST!Aug 24, 2009

Slow non turbo, very cheap to buy, very little aftermarket support, makes a good daily driver, haha. Always remember the timing belt though, interference engines suck when it comes to timing belts snapping. Other than that, pretty fun old car.Jul 30, 2009

this is a great car as long as the turbo works and it has t tops it is a very hard car to work on cause of how everything is so crammed in there but its a fun little car that will get up and go and its bulletproof pretty much you can drive no oil and still be running good Jun 28, 2009

Performace is now excellent after all the new parts, car needed to be rebuilt still needs body work but a true drift car. interior is being redone black leather dash, black carpet headliner amc drivers racing seat. jvc headunit with polk audio speakers no subs. Exterior lazy eyes car is now silver on black looking to paint a pearl white. This car sucks on gas but for a 84 what do you expect The car is a 5 speed Rwd and is really fun to drive.Mar 14, 2009

I bought this car for $1500 so its by no means a hot rod. Its a little rough around the edges but it still starts in cold weather and usually runs fine. For a car that so old thats pretty good in my opinion. Its not as fast as it looks, partly because it is not the turbo model and im sure that bein 25 years old doesnt help much. It squeaks and rattles every time you hit a bump, but again, thats to be expected. I love the digital dash i think overall the car is pretty cool looking. It stands out in a crowd. It gets great gas mileage and i have a blast driving it.Feb 23, 2009

This is the first Z to come out with a V6 and I don't really care for the V6, im more of a fan of the inline 6's. Mostly cause they sound better and look great. Ithink the only problem I have with this Z31 is 1: a little to heavy 2: theres way too much body roll and thats all. These problems were kinda intentional really. The Z31 was more of a touring car with its nice ride(due to weight) and the just right amount of power to push it faster then most cars on the road in those days. But to leave on a good note, this car is great for even a first car. I got mine for around $1000 and it was in great shape. If your looking for an old school nissan then this is the car for you.Jan 05, 2009

I bought this car when it was already ten years old. Still had original clutch and everything. In the winter, the doors would freeze, and once you got them open, you couldn't close them. Until the car warmed up enough, you'd have to listen to it continuously telling you that your door was ajar.Sep 12, 2008

The performance is good for what it is, takes the sharp corners super good, could have a stronger axel for brake stands. Love the sleek style, almost looks like a corvette. It gets 35 high way miles to the galon if your lucky. all in all a very fun little car. The only thing I would change is supercharge it or drop a 350 in it!Sep 06, 2008

I love how easy it is to work on and the fact that this car was built to last. it may not be that fast and powerful to todays standards but it is extremely fun to drive. you will never get tired of driving it. the best part is that you are one with the car. plus your but is like five inches off the pavement.Jul 27, 2008

First car I owned. Fast and fun to drive but it was on its last legs in many regards when I got my hands on it. I was never sure how many miles it had on it because the odometer was screwed up. Rust built up on most of the lower body panels. Power steering didn't work. If this same exact car was released today, brand new, I would want one.Jul 20, 2008

The first generation 300ZX is the black sheep, and ugly duck of the family. This is a 50th Anniversary Edition version, which has different wheels, fenders, and side moldings than a normal 1984 300zx. Inside is more gadgets and gizmos than you would know what to do with. From steering wheel controls, for cruise and radio, to adjustable shock ride, digital dash, power everything, and even 8 mini subwoofers in each seat. (4 under you, and 4 in your lower back) Just think of the car Jackie Chan was in, for the movie Cannonball Run. Beside the automatic transmission, which has a mind of its own, this car was the best japanese sports car of its time and it still feels great to drive it. If it had a manual transmission, i wouldn't have anything bad to say about it except that in 1984 the Z31 had a oil cooled turbo and it's starting to show some signs of fatigue (at least it's T3).Mar 30, 2008

why has my instrument panel gone dark?

I have a 1984 50th Anniversary 300zx. The panel has suddenly gone dark, and I am unabe to locate the power source, either visually or in the Haynes Manual. The electrical drawings are waaay beyond me. The car has LED didgital readouts. All I can say is that the fuses all appear to be healthy.

Fuel pump won't prime, car won't start

Car started having issues like random bogging, dying out. Checked fuel pressure, only 20 psi changed fuel pump and filter. It ran good but still had a slow start and random dying. Checked spark and was low so I changed cas sensor, plugs, wires and coil. Getting great spark but will not start at all unless I spray a little starting fluid. The fuel pump is not priming, it comes on and won't prime. Under the hood you can hear continuous flow through the pressure regulator. Does this sound like a faulty pressure regulator or something different? Please advise cause I'm stuck.

My 1984 Nissan 300ZX Manual lurches badly when letting off gas

Normal suspects were addresses like new plugs, plug wires, distributer, fuel filter, mass air flow, TPS, injectors checked. The car drives fine except when letting off gas then shuttering driveline bucks and jerks. Engage clutch or step on gas peddle is only way to abort the lurching. Clutch works fine. The car has a raw gas smell at the tail pipe when idling. Has anyone with Z31 had a similar problem?

1984 Nissan 300 ZX clutch problems

Clutch pedal will not come back up from floor, unless i pull it up manually. With car running and foot down on pedal, cannot engage gears. I can see the slave cyclinder move only very slightly when pedal is pumped. With engine off, I can hold pedal tight on floor and get into most gears. The slave cyclinder has just been replaced before i bought this car. Is this a bad slave cyclinder, or might it be the master cyclinder? How can i tell without starting to replace parts? Help is appreciated! Gerry.
