I have a 1983 Toyota pickup with a 5 speed transmission but no motor is it possible to put a newer Tacoma engine into it?

its in pieces now but will be assembling shortly... yes its only half a frame but that is becuse the back half will be tube chassis. should be cool on full size axles with 42s :) cant wait to get in rollin!Oct 04, 2010

This is the vehicle that started the compact pickup segment of trucks in the U.S. Probably the most reliable, durable vehicle I owned. Almost all Toyota trucks in the early 80's came with the 22R 4 cylinder engine that would outlast the rest of the truck.Jul 20, 2009

I bought the truck used for $800 and the previous owner had gotten bored at work and made it camouflage on his lunch break... go figure. It got 28 miles to the gallon and drove very well, but it was only running on 3 of 4 cylinders which didn't honestly seem to affect it much except at idle.Jan 07, 2008

1983 Toyota 4x4 turn singles/hazard lights kill battery in seconds if fuse i's left in
I have a 1983 Toyota 4x4 pickup when the fuses are pulled for the blinkers/hazards everything runs great, truck holds and maintains a full charge. But if fuses are put in it will seemingly kill the trucks battery with the truck running or not almost instantly I think it might be a short but somewhere in the steering column but I'm just wondering if anyone else has had a problem like this also they completely stopped working no indicator light on dash.
