Nice Little Car — Excellent, reliable car that gave no real trouble. Mainly driven by my wife for shopping and to her job at a charity shop. Very easy to maintain but spare parts are not easy to obtain so I think it is time to consider a modern car.

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: RELIABLE

Cons: NONE

1983 Ford Fiesta — The original Ford Fiesta is one of my favourite cars. It was my first car and was an excellent training ground. It had just enough power from the 950c ohv engine and only the basic essentials inside. Handling was exellent, and I even treated my 950 Popular with a brand new 'XR2' sports gear knob from Trimoco Hertford. I was very proud.

Pros: Classic small car

Cons: Crash safety compared to modern standards

Ok First Car — It was an L, had an AM radio and one speaker. Four speed gearbox, no synchromesh on First or Reverse (or any other gear come to think about it). Was fairly nippy. Adequate boot space, tyres were cheap to buy, did about 38 miles per UK gallon. Bonnet was held down with quick release rubber thingys.

Pros: To drive it you had to learn to double-declutch.

Cons: it rusted.

Mk1 Fiesta — Fairly quick but its only a 1.1 on carbs Good quality built for its age, it is 25 years old you know! It's just a good 70's Old school ford Cheap insurance and fairly ok on fuel, could be better Nothing better that chucking it into corners like a rally star in the forest!

Pros: Good first car. Full of 70's style

Cons: It is starting to get a bit crusty round the edges

First Car!!! 1.1l — Ok The Car only cost me £80 the Stereo was £180 Plus it had 10 Speakers in it. Made it shake like a rattle lol! also breaking was uselless due to the drums all round plus no power sterring.

Pros: This car never ever broke down but if it did it would be easy to fix yourself due to the old basic engine

Cons: The Colour Definatly the colour and the soft soggy suspension.

Ford Fiesta 1.3 Popular Plus — Bought this bad boy for £150 to autotest and for production car trialling. Drove it home thinking that the brakes were rubbish, it just turned out that the speedo underestimated by quite a margin and I wasn't doing 40 after all! First event ( a classic trial) managed to flatten all the fuel pipes and kill the ECU. Off to the scrap yard then...

Pros: it was cheap

Cons: for a reason

I like the fiesta, I had one in the past it is a reliable car. It looks good, it gets great gas mileage, and it is a FORD! I would compare this car to the Chevy Cruze, or the Honda civic. Read More
