I Wish I Could Buy Another One Like It! — I bought it new in Jan. 1979, and put 44,000 miles on it without any problems at all. Excellant gas mileage @ 42mpg on the highway. I still miss that car. It was very fun to drive! Unfortunately, I wrecked it. Samantha

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: MPG, fun to drive, no problems!

Cons: None

Loved The Car, Responsive Handling, Fuel Economy, Room For All Your Friends — It was my first car. Bought it used with 30,000 miles on it. Drove it all through high school. All the boys commented on my car. The paint eventually faded and the brakes kept leaking fluid into the floor board when I finally let her go. Looking forward to the new one coming in 2010.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Fun, cute, responsive (manual) handling

Cons: red paint faded, no one could work on it for repairs

Crap Car, Did Its Job, I Miss Old Bess!! — Not much to say about this car, it went like a one legged rat up a slippery pipe. But the Gas mileage was awesome, it not only took me from work and back more often than not without pushing, but I landed dates with this car...retro is cool...hahahaha

Pros: radio worked

Cons: not enough room to explain, but the engine fell off its mounts!!

Fun Little Motor — quick agile and gutsy even pretty good to look at in my own opinion the mk1 xr2 was the best of the xr2 series and i've tried the others too but the mk1 still comes out on top for me

Pros: ,quick,fun little motor

Cons: not a lot of room for back seat passengers or luggage

1978 Ford Fiesta Hatchback Review
GuruPLJXF says:
Bought it for $3,800 brand new in 78!! These cars had the 1500cc Ford Cortina engine and you could burn rubber in three gears. Great car. Had a strange problem with the fuel pump; wouldnt work when it was cold after sitting for several hours.

1978 Ford Fiesta Hatchback Review
Snodog says:
A spunky little car. Bought it with 95k miles and had it 3 yrs. You could quite capibly haul 5 adults, a 6ft long couch, or a refrigerator. Usual mileage was 35-39mpg. It is much more fun to drive a slow car fast, than to drive a fast car slow! Whomever penned that phrase had to have this cheeky little car in mind! Brakes sucked.
