1973 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Review
chevperson says:
A special car, leased it first 2 years for business in 1973 and never regretted it . Did put in a bigger radiator for going through mountain passes in California. Drove to Las Vegas in 1973 in it to get married. Have kept it ever since. Really gets the looks when driven on the street. ..and the high fives!

Cool Car, In Any Color. — Bought this from a buddy who worked at the Marina with me. It never gave me trouble, handled great, I even towed my race car with it. I drove it into the ground and sold it for parts. No regrets. GM cars from the 70's were made out of rust right from the factory.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: These are coming back as desirable muscle cars...drop an LS6 and overdrive tranny in it, you're good to go.

Cons: Rust... rust.... rust...

73-77 A-bodies Are The Bomb — my first car was a 1975 monte in 1984. i have been hooked ever since. the body lines and the way it handles, makes this an awsome car.this is my first big block and would not trade it for anything

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: factory 454/400

Cons: gas milage

I Love The Car I Would Recommend It To All Its A Fairly Bulletproof Car!!!! — The body is stand alone one of a kind I don't care what anyone says. I have had mine for 2 1/2 year never a single prob. Mine has the 5.7 350 v8 in it. I installed a 650 Edelbrock carb in replace of the stock 2bbl. I only have one thing I wish was fixed I hate limited slip differential!!!!!! There should be a law against Cars or Trucks having them. Positraction All the Way!!!

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Overall ride and comfort, as well as performance

Cons: Limited Slip Differential and 2 BBL Carbs

One Beautiful Car — I've owned this car for about two years and have had only one major problem, aside from that it has been a fairly hassle free daily driver.

Pros: Very spacious, unique and stands out in a crowd, sounds amazing, good gas milage for its size and era, little to no rust, nearly in perfect condition

Cons: as with most older Chevy's, the rear window leaks in heavy rains, gas gauge does not work

Fantastic Car All Around — Great car until the road cancer took over. Nice to drive for comfort ad family. Not good for rat racing lol. Handled quite well in all weather.

Pros: great all round family/sporty car.

Cons: not great handling in snow/wet weather.

Thank You Mr. John Delorean — You'd be hard pressed to find another classic car these days with such versatility. It rides like a dream, handles curves well for its vintage, and has ample power in any trim. Most notably, it is undoubtedly anything but subtle with gi-normously beautiful voluptuous curves. I would also have to say that it is the coolest car I have ever had the joy to own and drive and can't imagine ever getting rid of it. On the mechanical/technical side of things.... It's a fairly simple enough auto that anyone with basic mechanical skills can maintain. The downside to these cars is basically that by these years the corporate 'corner cutting' and cheapening of materials is most evident in the interior trim. And thanks to Ralph Nader, this model year Monte had mandatory front bumper shock absorbers. Rear shock absorbers were not utilized on Montes until 1974 thus leaving the profile of the 73 a true standalone.
