1972 Audi 80 Preview summaryImage

The first year of the 1972 Audi 80 featured a new B1 unibody platform that would later be used on the Volkswagen Passat. The 1972 Audi 80 was only sold in Europe and wouldn't reach the U.S. shores until the following year, badged as the Audi Fox.
As a coupe or sedan, the 1972 Audi 80 was powered by a 60-hp I4 and 4-speed manual transmission. As a more affordable Audi 100, it offered many of the same interior comforts, but in a smaller, less expensive package. Even so, passenger room was ample, and trunk space surprisingly large. It turned out to be a huge success in Europe.
