1959 Ford Thunderbird Reviews, Pricing & Specs

The 1959 Ford Thunderbird was the second of the "Square Birds." It was very similar to the award-winning 1958 Thunderbird, with one exception: more power! The Thunderbird continued its four-seater era, but added an engine worthy of pulling much more weight than that comprised of four people. The base engine remained at an impressive 5.8-liter, 352-ci V8 rated at 300 horsepower. New for the 1959 T-bird was a MEL series 7.0-liter 430 V8 rated at 350 horsepower. Sales went up drastically as a result, with 67,456 units sold, 10,261 of which were convertibles.

Convertible top went into the trunk, boot lid pulled up and with trunk closed made for a sleek looking ride. With a 352cu.in.4bbl.,Cruseomatic transmission,it wasn't no muscle car.But then again it never was designed to be.What it was,was a good looking stylish smooth riding automobile and with a pair of Thrush glass packs and a loud rockin'sound system, I always had girls wanting to ride with me.Apr 24, 2009

Well its in a state of chaos right now as its being restored. But it has 428 Cobra Jet with around 400+ horse power. So hopefully I'll finish this right after we finish restoring the 65 Mustang. The interior has been redone with all marine leather. Over all i love this car, especially the lines.Oct 17, 2008
