Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So my question is where do you recommend I
take my truck for oil changes, tire rotations,

stay home and do it in your drive way, like I do. When you buy your bulbs you don't need to buy 12v bulbs ( it doesn't take a 12v charge illuminate a bulb.. maybe 3 volts). A clerk will probably push you into buying one you don't need. maybe they don't even know.. it happens. Oil changes are very simple, especially for a Silver CH.

Oil change shops do sloppy work, use generic oils and are known for sending people away with no oil in their engines. Find a competent mechanic you trust. I trust myself more than anyone else. I even had a dealer do an oil change under warranty on my new Subaru and they sent me out with an oil leak.

I use America's Tire for tire work. You can buy certificates for your tires which will give you free flat repairs, rotations and tire replacement for road hazard damage. It is a good investment.

For things you can't or don't want to do yourself, take it back to your local Chevrolet Dealer. For the life of the vehicle!! People will say that's dumb because the Dealer is too expensive, looking for stuff to replace to get more money out of you, and so on! But I can tell you this from personal experience and personal observations. Vehicles that are Dealer serviced last a lot longer than vehicles that are not. I bought my 93 Caprice brand new, it was always Dealer serviced, and I drove it for 19 years. I sold it to a young guy at work for $500 who drove it for another year. The car was impounded when he was caught buying drugs in it. My Sister bought a 93 Cavalier Z24 brand new and drove it until 2014. Always Dealer serviced. She sold it to a friend of our family and he drove it until August of this year. He sold it to a friend who is still driving it! Lastly, a guy from work bought a 2002 Lincoln Town Car, brand new. Again, always Dealer serviced. He drove it for 10 years and 260,000 miles. He decided to trade it in when the intake manifold started leaking coolant. So, yes, I always go back to the Dealer with only 2 exceptions. Tires and exhaust system work. I like Pep Boys for tires (nothing else) and Meineke for exhaust system work (nothing else). If you do the same I'd be willing to bet you'll still be driving your Silverado in 2035! Hope that helps! Jim
