How difficult is it to swap an aftermarket turbo back to a stock one?

Asked by Caleb May 17, 2021 at 09:38 PM about the 1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS-T Turbo

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The aftermarket turbo in my Eclipse Spyder GS-t is giving me problems, I did
not install this turbo. It was installed by the previous owner, everything other
then the turbo is in amazing condition as far as I know. I have been advised
by a few mechanics who specialize in turbos to try and get the original turbo
that is supposed to come with the car stock. It will be more reliable and
efficient in the long run, however I have no  idea where to start with this
project. Me and a friend of mine are going to try and tackle the project on our
own. Would appreciate any advice that is given.

If the exhaust or intake systems were modified to accommodate the turbo you will obviously have to change things back to stock.
