2003 Mercury Mountaineer AC Panel has no power

Asked by Logan Nov 28, 2018 at 01:19 PM about the 2003 Mercury Mountaineer Luxury AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I was driving one day and my a/c panel for my
2003 Mountaineer stopped working and had no
power. It is digital, but I found the fuse diagrams,
pulled out fuses under the driver side console and
no luck. So next I went to the front fusebox behind
the battery under the hood, pulled out the fuses,
but none looked that bad. After wiping them off
and making sure that they were seated all the way,
I hopped back in the car and it worked. Anybody
think that it is the start to a bigger problem, or just
a coincidence? I run an amp and speaker system
with a modified touchscreen dash radio set, but
never have I blown a fuse. It was just the A/C
control panel that went out, not the mirror adjust,
moon roof, or anything else. Wierd right?

Not weird at all. You may be able to visually see if a fuse is blown, in some cases you can't tell without using an ohm meter on them. Sounds like you just had a loose fuse or one with a corroded contact that you fixed by pulling them and wiping them off. Problem will probably not return unless there is a reason for the loose or corroded contact.
