Mountaineer problem

Asked by N_ray Mar 18, 2019 at 11:54 AM about the 2002 Mercury Mountaineer RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So when I hooked up a radio in my dads
mountaineer, everything went fine. But when
he dropped me off he put the car in park and
the engine bay got loud, we couldn't figure it
out for a sec... He turned off the car, still
going... Then he turned off the lights and it
went back to normal... He turned I back on
then turned back on the lights, did it again,
then turned them off... I have no clue what
the radio would have to do with the lights...
Please help

If it didn't do this before you replaced the radio, I would look closely at your installation work for connection issues, wiring not associated with the radio swap that has been pulled apart or shorted to something by doing the radio swap, or the source of the "noise" in the engine bay.
