Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2005 Mercury Mountaineer. That is
making a grinding noise from the rear. I took
the rear end oil add plug out because I was
told it was the rear end needing oil. But
when I removed the add plug, fluid came
out. How cab it need fluid if it's coming out
if the add plug?

Bad wheel bearings. Same thing happened to me on my 06 and, as I understand it, a pretty common thing in our cars of that time period.
