Your best bet is to check with the parts manager at your local Kia dealer. He can look up the specs and see if it works.

You can replace a 2004 Rio 1.6 with an 01-02 1.5L or and 03-05 1.6L but the new 1.6 from 2006 onwards is a differant engine and requires alot of work to change.

Most likely yes. Obtaining any info from people is pretty much worthless. They'll most likely give you a no answer . Im not only answering this for you(3 year old question) but for any other people . Your best bet,go to a salvage yard and see where the mounts are,and how long the drive axles are for each years of vehicle, and tranny bolt pattern .I highly doubt kia changed anything considering its the same 1.6 motor with a mere 6 more hp. Any changes made were probably just made to a/f ratio tuning and intake systems and exhaust. Now the 2012 and up,that might be different, but most likely not.
