how to write a review

Asked by zric Jul 06, 2020 at 05:18 PM about the 2017 Subaru Outback 3.6R Limited AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Have a subaru outback without any problems for 2.5 years now with in the
past 2 weeks have had to have it "jumped off" 3 times.  Took it to the
dealer july 1 was told everything checked out fine.  Have replaced a new
battery twice and once again july 5 wouldn't start again.  Told Randy
Marion Dealership about complaints and called Subaru America.  What to
do now? Don't want to get stuck somewhere?

If it is a higher mileage car the brushes in the starter are worn out. The starter tests fine at the dealership because they didn't test it properly - they would much rather keep selling you expensive parts then fix the problem.. When the engine warms up the starter brush springs lose tension - the worn brushes won't conduct the power to the motor properly and the car won't start. Replace or rebuild the starter and you will be fine.

Buy a good battery instead of the crap Subaru installs. Interstate or Optima.
