Subaru outback 2016 - headlights turn on and off randomly

Asked by Chris Nov 14, 2018 at 10:44 AM about the 2016 Subaru Outback 2.5i Limited

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I just bought a used 2016 outback, and I've noticed
a weird problem with the headlight(s). It's hard to
nail down what's happening, since it only seems to
happen while I am driving. Best I can tell is one of
my headlights is going on and off. Not flickering,
and it's not all of them, so I don't think it's a battery
or alternator issue. I thought maybe it could be a
loose wire or fuse problem, but I'm not sure. Just
wanted to see if anyone else had a similar issue.

For the record I do have a warranty, but I can fix it
in a few minutes for a few bucks, I'll gladly avoid
that mess.

It may be your fog light turning on to see better as you corner. Should turn off after you corner Doesn't happen if you leave them on all the time. It's how it works on ours

We just bought a 2017 outback today. What we notice is the left running ligh comes on when your bearing left, no turn signal being used, same with the right I don’t know if that’s a feature or it’s broken
