2012 VW Jetta Transmission

Asked by Rachel Nov 26, 2018 at 01:23 PM about the 2012 Volkswagen Jetta SE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2012 VW Jetta in good condition. I take it in for all service
appointments and I just reached 50,000 miles on it. It is in the shop and the
dealer said it is in need of a new transmission? It stopped shifting in to gears
one day and does not accelerate when in Drive. There were never any warning
signs or any issues beforehand? Could it be anything else?

The shop is probably correct. If you want a better price go to an independent transmission shop.

if it was me, I'd go research where my shift diaphram is. Because in order for a transmission to shift gear band and needs vacuum pressure from the diaphram. Then IF I can find it and IF I can fix it on my own, I'd knock it out. y' might get a bit dirty lying under the car, but it beats paying a shop bill for hundreds over hundreds of dollars. what's in your wallet!!? Being it's an import, raw guess is that the part is maybe well hidden or inside the tran housing.

What code did the diagnostic come up with? It may be a fuse problem causing loss of communication with the TCM
