What are the title requirements to sell a car?

The title is in my name and my deceased husbands name. Is the title and the
death certificate what I need to sell the car?

Check with your state DMV. You would be better off if you get a new title in your name only. Now, you'll have to follow your state's requirements for deceased. That might be a dearth certificate or it might be more. And buyers are reluctant to be stuck doing anything more involved than just sending in the title only; it might cost you in the transaction. If it were me, I'd offer you two grand less to do this.
Laws vary from State to State so definitely check with your local Motor Vehicle Agency. If you're the executor of the estate it will not be a problem. But you'll probably need a notarized copy of the death certificate and a form to fill out to get the title in your name only. Then it will be easier to sell the vehicle. Hope that helps! Jim
