2010 TRD Off-Road, Power Steering non-existent from the day purchased brand-new

Only power steering, particularly from a dead stop turning one way or the other, is whatever "power" you have in your arms, certainly no help from the vehicle at all (drive a new Tahoe at work and can turn the wheel with 1 finger). The dealer, however, says it checks out just fine, working as it was designed. Anyone else experience this with a new vehicle?

It's a 2010 that you purchased brand new- what- 2, 3 years ago? Is it under warranty? Why did you wait 2 years to start finding out if something is wrong- you've been driving it, must be OK- if you want to pursue this, check with another dealer's service department- I don't think it was designed to turn with one finger like an American SUV

Power steering is a misnomer, a better term is speed sensitive power assisted steering. Power assist is normally needed for low speed high angle turning such as when parking. If you changed your tires or wheels, the amount of assist required may change also.
