volkswagen 2009 rabbit 1st gear issues

Asked by Kylin Jun 13, 2018 at 05:06 PM about the 2009 Volkswagen Rabbit 2-door

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

i recently purchased a volkswagen rabbit and had minimal problems until
just a few days ago. My car is hard to get into first gear, there seems to be
resistance when i try and put it into gear. this is only while the car is on
while it is off there are no issues. i also noticed my car will sometimes grind
gears when shifting into reverse, and when it does get into reverse it
thunks and lurches. if anybody could give me an idea of whats going on it
would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like it's time to replace the clutch.
