Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My daughters 2009 Forester has no heat. The thermostat has been replaced along with a new radiator. Can anyone please tell me what the issue would be?

If it was working fine before the tstat and radiator change, then you might just have air trapped in the cooling system interfering with flow to the heater core. When the car is running, squeeze the heater hoses under the hood, and see if they feel hot or pressurized. If the work was done at a shop, let them know what the problem is and ask if they can bleed air again. If it wasn't working before the radiator change, then you might have a bad heater core or a bad blend door. The blend door is a plastic flap inside the heater core box in the dash, that moves to direct incoming air over either the heater core or AC coil. If it's stuck over the AC coil in spite of the switch setting then it may be the actuator that moves it went bad.

Thank you Ken. It went back to the shop this weekend, it had heat for a short time after the last visit but then again this morning just cold air. I will have them check the heater core and the blend door. I appreciate your advice. Thank you again. :)

Youtube for videos on how to purge air from the system.
