Do I have to buy car mats made specifically for smart cars?

I recently bought a used 2008 smart car fortwo passion coupe and I want to buy some cute car mats for it. I noticed that most car mats offered online are the same size, but I'm not sure if they would fit a smart car? I've done the measurements and the passenger side seems fine, I'm just concerned about the driver side as I want to make sure it will fit properly around the gas and brake pedals. Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated!
