Rattling in 07 mountaineer

Asked by Cole May 09, 2017 at 09:52 PM about the 2007 Mercury Mountaineer V6 Premier AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Rattling from engine during initial starting then
almost completely stops after idling down

1 Answer

The noise is the cam chains. Once oil pressure comes up the cam chain tensioner takes up the slack and the noise stops. Like Tom says check the oil level and maybe go ahead and change it.
