Asked by XJ6loverrr Dec 29, 2018 at 09:42 PM about the 1990 Jaguar XJ-Series XJS Coupe RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

When the car is parked the wheel is impossible to turn. When the car is stopped and idling the steering wheel is impossible to turn. VERY HEAVY. When the car is moving the wheel turns normal.

What could be the problem?

Fluid is full. If you are driving above 10mph its normal and works fine. If you are parked or trying to turn from a stop it is impossible.

Try adding some Lucas Power Steering Stop Leak to power steering pump it not only stops leaks but corrects hard steering by lubricanting valves and seals in rack and pinion.
