Jolt while stopping

Asked by llippai Oct 18, 2017 at 01:35 PM about the 2007 Pontiac Solstice Base

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My car jolts forward when stopping.  Heard it could be the MAP or Coolant
Sensor?  Would like some thoughts on this before I take it to a mechanic.

not sure what you mean by jolts forward when stopping? does it try to keep moving when you apply the brakes? anyway, a map sensor or coolant temp sensor should throw a code. have your computer scanned for codes at an auto parts store, many will do this for free.

Most time a bad MAP sensor will have Delayed acceleration followed by a sudden surge. Yours is doing will stopping and a check engine light should be on. I have not known of a coolant temp switch doing this but have heard of a bad computer (ECM) doing this.

Any codes to let us know about, if check engine light is on have the codes read at a auto parts store and get back to us.

Possible tcc, or torque converter control solenoid. Either way you are gonna have to get a trans pro to look at it.

Hello. Just received word from the car mechanic at GMC and he said I need the transmission solenoid replaced. Based on what everyone has said, its looking like this could be legit? Just wanted confirmation before I agree for them to do this costly repair. Thank you to everyone who has helped.
