Slow start in hot weather and will not take off after stopping at a traffic light.

Asked by Momma_Gigi Jul 01, 2016 at 10:39 AM about the 2006 Nissan Sentra 1.8 S

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I currently have 2 things I need to diagnose
and repair on my '06, 1.8 S Nissan Sentra.
1. In hot weather it takes 2-6 tries to start. In
cold/cool weather or even in the shade, it
starts fine; but I can't always park in a
shaded area.
2. Sometimes after waiting at a traffic light
the car will not move when I press the gas to
go. (Then of course people start honking
their horns for me to go.  Sweet aren't
they?!)

I have heard this vehicle has issues with
starting in hot weather. Does anyone on here
know what the problem(s) could be and how
to repair?

Thanks...

One of the simplest and most logical items to check is your fuel filter.

We've been dealing with this in MA for about 4 months now, been to two different dealers, one was useless. They tried reprogramming method they thought it worked but it kept happening. Very unsafe and seriously frustrating! Just now had it back again and they cleaned the throttle body, they think this will resolve it, lets hope as its 95 degrees here today!! NEVER BUY NISSAN. our model is 2014 SENTRA

My daughter has a 06 Sentra and has the 1st problem mentioned. She noticed it is only when the AC is on. Now she turns the AC off before cutting off the vehicle. When starting the vehicle, the next time, there is no problem. Works every time. Thinking of replacing AC compressor.
