I need to know, in detail,  how to replace a water pump on a 2004 vw beatle..

Consult a Chiltons or Haynes manual, as they provide explicit instructions on this procedure with photos. If you don't want to pay for one, a lot of libraries have them.

anything attatched to the timeing system whe nyou pull the pump from the car is best to be replaced at the same time you do the pump*aka the thermostate, All the pulleys and wheels, Bolts, and tensiononor.* the cam and crank gears can be left stock they don't commanly go bad but replace the belt at the same time as well. if you have a 1.8 or 2.0L engine should run you about 500$ in parts to do it yourself or 1000$ at a vw certified mechanic.
