My car will sometimes misfire in the middle of driving it on the road. It will
jerk forward and no matter how I step on the gas it will not go until it wants
to and it will jerk forward when it decides it wants to. This only happens
when the car has been on for a long time. I have estimated about an hour.
Recently after the misfiring it will die...the red battery light will come on and
the car will not move and nothing will budge. UNLESS i put the car back in
park, take the keys out, and put them back in to restart it. It will restart just
fine and act fine for like 10 seconds and it will do it again. If I let it sit over
night it will be good to go the next morning but not any longer than an hour.
I've been stuck in the middle of traffic, very dangerously, and need to figure
out what I can do.

Sounds like a sensor issue, my money is on the crankshaft position sensor. It can be tested with a multimeter for resistance, test it cold and then once the car starts acting up. You should be able to find out what the readings are supposed to be at a large chain auto parts store as they have generally have access to tools such as Mitchell On Demand, ShopKey, AllDataDIY or whatever else they use.
