I have a 2003 Golf GLS 2.0 automatic, I drove about 800miles on an average speed of 70mph, the rpm were about 3000, is that normal!?

http://www.golfmk6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=34792 says that is what the Golf runs @70---3k rpm. Normally. Just as a comparison my Corolla tachs 2800 @70
