I have a 90 model s10 5 speed how do I check transmission fluid

there will be 2 plugs on the side of the trans. one just about on the bottom that is a drain plug. and one about midway up, thats the fill plug. You stick your finger in the fill plug and make sure the fulid is to that level. If not then fill it up till is starts coming out and put the plug back in

On many standard transmissions there's a plug on the side. Few have a drain plug on the bottom. You can use a turkey baster with a piece of vacuum hose and suck the old gear oil out. Reverse the processes to add the fresh gear oil. Use a plastic turkey baster as you may have to cut the tip back. Gear oil is thicker than conventional oil.

I just bolt a 5-speed cougar a 1999 and I don't see no transmission fluid stick on top of the motor how do I check it

Look under the car. On most 5 speeds there is a bolt on the bottom and a bolt on the side of the transmission. Unbolt the one on the side and stick ur finger in there. If u feel fluid then its full but if not then u need to add some. But I would recommend changing it if its low.
