2003 Pontiac grand am gt

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2003 Pontiac grand am gt idles high when first
start and accelerates by itself.  Recently it’s been
randomly dying in the middle of driving but turning
right back on with no hesitation. I’ve looked up
multiple things and can’t find the solution. Does
anybody possibly know the solution or the
problem? My uncle who is trying to fix the car
believes it could be the throttle body or a mass air
sensor but we’re still not sure.

Your uncle is definitely on the right path. I'd clean the throttle body and MAF sensor. Also, the IAC Motor should be cleaned as well. Carbon does build up and create this issue.
