2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee electrical issue

Asked by Darren Aug 28, 2022 at 05:09 PM about the 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Odd one here. 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited. I rolled the power windows
down, I then disconnected the battery. Replaced the Ignition switch.
Reconnected the battery. Vehicle starts and runs fine. Power windows now will
not roll back up, any ideas?

By disconnecting your battery, you disabled the auto up option on the windows. You have to program them again. So using your window switch, hold it to fully close the window. Then manually hold the switch to full close and don't let it go once down, do that for at least 40 seconds. Then fully close the window again manually and hold for at least a second in the closed position. The window should work now If not, repeat this process.

I got the windows to roll up finally. Now they won't roll down. I am starting to suspect the BCM. Door locks, driver power seat, and Power mirrors also don't work. I have replaced the battery before and didn't have this issue.

2005 you needed a memory saver tool that plugs into the OBD 2 port to keep memory programming alive, so now you will have to go to the dealership and have the system re-flashed. The good news is you will get any updates that happen to be available. Bad news it will be around a hundred bucks depending on the shops hourly cost.

Did you try disconnecting the battery again to see if that clears things? Willing to take a chance?
