Unable to pump gas

Hello I'm having trouble pumping gas into my 2004 GMC Envoy. The gas
pumps stops every 5 seconds and I have to just repeatedly hit it as soft as I
can. The gas tank was replaced a few years ago

The vent to the tank must be blocked. Even a little bit of condensation can freeze in the line and block it. The charcoal filter in the EVAP canister can also become soaked in fuel if you overfill the tank too often. Have someone look at the vent line and EVAP canister.

Changing the Evap canister or the purge valve are both pretty simple jobs if that’s what it is. Good luck. Since it was 5 months ago did you ever find the true problem?
