hello all you car gurus.. I purchased a new jeep wrangler jk 4 door about 3 months now.. I have 2000 miles on it.. and I m thinking of changing the factory oil on it.. I know it may be early ,but I ve allways done oil changes at every 2 thousand miles on all my toys,, I use mobil1 synthetic 5w 20 . I do my oil changes myself. don't trust dealers .. (who knows what they put in the engine) therefore I do it myself. at least I know what goes in my vehicles.. best regards..

sorry . I got disconnected.. anyways my question is .. do you think its overkill changing the engine oil evey 2 k miles?,, I enjoy taking care of my cars .. therefor i will have this jeep for as long as i can ....by the way at walmart mobil 1 cost me 23 bucks for 5quart jug...... at autozone they want 34.99 and at other car stores they want 39.99 for the same oil...!! i said . are you kidding me... what a rip off. i love walmart when it comes to car care products... take care.....

yes it is overkill, and I don't blame you a bit. When ours get over 100k I do it every 2500, the oil today especially synthetic lasts longer and resists break down. The manual on our 2011 Grand Cherokee Overland with a Hemi says every 7500 miles, which I have ignored and do every 3k. I used to work at 2 different Chrysler dealers, we always used either Valvoline or Mobile oils only, I assume you have the 3.8L?

hello chris... its actually the 3.6 I forgot to mention that I also bought an air filter from amazon. made by rugged ridge its just as good as the k&n and its 25 bucks cheaper beats the paper filter from factory. and im getting 2 miles per gallon better than b4 .. cpu was at 18 19 mpg.. now im at 21 22 .. mpg.. and yes our jeeps will last us a lifetime.. have a blessed day...
