ac problems on long trips

my ac quits working on hot days after about an hour. works fine on cloudy days
and short trips.

Sounds like AC system pressure problems, pressures get too high the height pressure cut out disengages the compressor, pressures too low, low pressure switch cuts off the compressor. Have the system checked over, it could a plugged air flow trough the condenser or a bad condenser.
