C1500 problems

I have a 92 Chevy C1500 and there is alot of play in the steering wheel, what is the cause for that action?
My gear shifter marker doesn't change when putting into gear, why?

the front end is loose. usually the idler arm and the pitman arm are loose and the tie rods are loose. also check your ball joints

the gear shifter marker probably isn't working because the wire thats connected it is from the shifter isn't working
