Flashing dashboard indicator lights while driving

Asked by Guru9MGRMX Feb 05, 2023 at 02:01 PM about the 2010 Toyota Sienna

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Anyone know the cause of flashing  dashboard indicator lights while driving? I

drained the battery accidentally and the indicator lights on the dash went

haywire right before it died.  Jumped the car, it turned on and drove no

problem.  Decided to get a new battery, because it was 5 years old.  Then

within 5 minutes of driving, the indicator lights went haywire randomly

continuously flashing again. Thank you for any help.

Sounds like the BCM programming got messed due to low to nonexistent voltage. The dealer or a really good independent shop can do a flash on it.

Took to the dealer, they said there was a short to ground wire and they want to replace the dash wiring harness, since it comes as a unit, and they are not allowed or not able to fix one wire in the unit. It was $1500 just to find the cause, not to repair it! We will be looking to buy a car in the near future.

What a load of hooey, they didn't want to dive in and fix it. Any good independent shop could probably have fixed it for less than you now have paid for nothing. Never go to the dealer for any repairs after the warranty runs out, they are only after your money. Did they even check for programming problem?
