2001 Mazda 626 Overview
Overall User Score
Based on 8 reviews
The 2001 Mazda 626 only saw a few changes for the model year, including an upgraded sound system, an interior trunk release, and a cleaner engine.
The 2001 Mazda 626 was available in four times: the LX, the LX V6, the ES, and the ES V6. The LX was the midrange model. Upgrading to the ES gets a power moon roof, leather interior, and a six-way power driver’s seat. The base engine was a 2.0-liter, 130 horsepower four cylinder, and the V6 had 2.5 liters and 170 horsepower. Fuel economy is 22/28 for the four cylinder and 20/26 for the V6.
Many drivers find the 2001626 to be a fun, good-looking alternative to more popular sedans like the Camry and the Accord. Fans say it handles well and gets good gas mileage. Many complain about an excessive amount of road noise, and some say the four cylinder isn’t powerful enough.
