Reviews Summary

The 2024 Chrysler Pacifica is the last Chrysler model standing, as well as one of a shrunken contingent of U.S.-market minivans that also includes the Honda Odyssey, Kia Carnival, and Toyota Sienna. While it hasn’t been redesigned since its introduction as a 2017 model, the Pacifica continues with minimal changes. The only news for 2024 is a handful of new color options and an emergency vehicle alert driver-assist feature.

Verdict: The Pacifica checks all of the boxes, with only small issues to detract from its overall goodness.

Reviews Summary

The 2025 Chevrolet Tahoe arrives with a restyled front and rear, including new lighting signatures, and its available diesel engine has been upgraded for more horsepower and torque. However, most shoppers will recognize the new Tahoe for its improved interior and fancy touchscreen.

Verdict: Although the Tahoe receives only mild mechanical updates for the 2025 model year, its interior takes a healthy step forward. Its primary competitors–the Ford Expedition and the Jeep Wagoneer–no longer look or feel significantly nicer. An upgraded diesel engine also helps separate the Tahoe from the field, offering impressive fuel economy (for a vehicle of this size) and excellent performance.

Look and feel

2024 Chrysler Pacifica

9/10

2025 Chevrolet Tahoe

8/10

The 2024 Chrysler Pacifica maintained its contemporary appeal despite not undergoing frequent redesigns. Its smooth exterior styling, featuring a modest grille, offered a refreshing alternative to the flashier designs of competitors like the Toyota Sienna. Chrysler's design team opted for a clean look by cleverly hiding the sliding-door tracks, avoiding the need for additional styling features. The Pacifica was available in several trim levels, including Touring, Touring L, Limited, and Pinnacle, with options for darkened or crystal exterior trims. The interior of the Pacifica was equally distinctive, with a minimalist dashboard design that integrated controls seamlessly. The Pinnacle trim, in particular, boasted luxurious touches like brown Nappa leather upholstery and quilted contrast stitching, although some interior elements felt less premium.

In contrast, the 2025 Chevrolet Tahoe retained its popularity by combining capability and practicality. The Tahoe's design updates included a new grille and updated lighting elements, aligning it with other Chevy trucks. It offered six trim levels, catering to various preferences, from the no-frills LS to the luxurious Premier and High Country trims. The Z71 trim, which we tested, featured rugged enhancements like skid plates and all-terrain tires. Inside, the Tahoe showcased a significant technological upgrade with a 17.7-inch touchscreen, complemented by an 11-inch driver information screen and an optional 15-inch head-up display. While the new tech interface was sleek, it had a learning curve, and the steering wheel controls were somewhat cluttered. Despite these challenges, the 2025 Tahoe represented a substantial improvement over its predecessor.

10/10

The 2024 Chrysler Pacifica was powered by a 3.6-liter V6 engine, delivering 287 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque, paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive was standard, with all-wheel drive available on higher trims. The Pacifica's V6 engine, known as the Pentastar, had a long-standing reputation for reliability and provided ample power for acceleration and towing, with a maximum capacity of 3,600 pounds. The minivan's chassis tuning prioritized comfort and stability, making it a quiet and refined choice compared to rivals like Honda, Kia, and Toyota.

In contrast, the 2025 Chevrolet Tahoe offered a choice of two V8 engines and a diesel option. The 5.3-liter V8 produced 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque, while the 6.2-liter V8 delivered 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. The diesel engine, a 3.0-liter inline-six, saw improvements, boosting horsepower to 305 and torque to 495 pound-feet. The Tahoe's 10-speed automatic transmission provided smooth shifts, and rear-wheel drive was standard, except for the off-road-oriented Z71 trim, which came with four-wheel drive. The Tahoe's steering was surprisingly light for its size, but the brake pedal felt heavy and challenging to modulate. The SUV offered various suspension options, including Magnetic Ride Control and Air Ride adaptive suspension, enhancing ride quality.

Form and function

2024 Chrysler Pacifica

2025 Chevrolet Tahoe

7/10

The 2024 Chrysler Pacifica excelled in interior space and versatility. It featured Chrysler's innovative Stow 'n Go seating, allowing second-row seats to fold flat into the floor, creating additional storage space. The Pacifica accommodated seven passengers with standard bucket seats and a 60/40 split-folding third-row bench. An eight-seat configuration was available with the Touring L trim, but it couldn't be combined with Stow 'n Go or all-wheel drive. The Pinnacle and Limited trims offered power-folding third-row seats and a power liftgate. The Pacifica's cargo space was generous, with 32.3 cubic feet behind the third row, 87.5 cubic feet behind the second row, and 140.5 cubic feet with all seats folded. A built-in vacuum cleaner was available on select trims, adding convenience.

The 2025 Chevrolet Tahoe was designed for those needing to carry passengers and tow heavy loads. With the 5.3-liter V8, rear-wheel drive, and the Max Trailering package, the Tahoe could tow up to 8,400 pounds. The 6.2-liter V8 and diesel engines had slightly lower towing capacities. The Tahoe's cargo volume was impressive, offering 122.9 cubic feet with all seats folded, 72.6 cubic feet with the second row in place, and 25.5 cubic feet with all seats up. However, the trunk space was limited when all seats were occupied. The Tahoe offered a 24-inch wheel option, requiring Magnetic Ride Control for improved ride quality, but these wheels were costly and added to the vehicle's price.

Technology

The 2024 Chrysler Pacifica featured a 10.1-inch touchscreen with the Uconnect 5 infotainment system, offering wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth, SiriusXM, and Amazon Alexa compatibility. The instrument cluster included analog gauges with a 7-inch digital display. The Pacifica offered up to 12 USB-C ports, built-in navigation, and a 19-speaker Harman Kardon audio system. The Uconnect 5 system was intuitive, but accessing the 360-degree camera view required navigating menus. The rear-seat entertainment system included dual 10.1-inch touchscreens, wireless headphones, and Amazon Fire TV connectivity. The FamCam allowed parents to monitor rear-seat passengers, but an intercom system was absent.

The 2025 Chevrolet Tahoe made significant strides in technology with a 17.7-inch touchscreen, an 11-inch driver information screen, and an optional 15-inch head-up display. Standard features included wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, but the Tahoe's Google Built-in system integrated Google Maps, Google Assistant, and the Play Store. The touchscreen was user-friendly, but customizing the driver information display was challenging. The steering wheel controls were cluttered, requiring a learning curve. Physical buttons for essential functions remained, providing familiarity. The premium Bose sound system fell short compared to rivals, but the 2025 Tahoe represented a notable tech upgrade.

Safety

2025 Chevrolet Tahoe

7/10

The 2024 Chrysler Pacifica received a five-star overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), with five stars in frontal and side crash tests and four stars in rollover tests. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) named it a 2023 Top Safety Pick, although it missed the highest award due to low scores in certain crash tests and middling ratings for headlights and front crash prevention. Standard safety features included blind-spot monitoring, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control, and rear park assist. Optional features included a 360-degree camera system and park assist.

The 2025 Chevrolet Tahoe's safety ratings were based on the 2024 model, which received four out of five stars from the NHTSA and an Acceptable rating from the IIHS in the small overlap front test. The Tahoe included standard Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) such as automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, pedestrian and bicycle braking, automatic parking assist, a surround-view camera, and a teen driver monitoring system. GM's Super Cruise hands-free driving tech was expected to be available in 2025.
