What’s New for the 2028 Genesis GV90
The GV90 is an all-new model for 2028. It’s a flagship luxury electric SUV offered with two or three rows of seats. The two-row Neolun model has rear-opening coach doors and a two-passenger rear seat, and is designed to be extremely comfortable, while the standard GV90 has conventional front-hinged rear doors. The GV90 will offer 657 horsepower, more creature comforts than drivers can shake a stick at, and a 310-mile range, according to Genesis.
Design
The GV90 cuts a stately stance, but its standout feature is the available Neolun Arch Gate rear doors. They open at the back instead of the front to provide very easy entry and exit to the second row. They’re only available on the Neolun model, while the standard GV90 gets conventional front-opening rear doors. At 208.1 inches long and 79.9 inches wide, the GV90 is about 2 inches shorter than a Ford Expedition and 14 inches longer than the brand’s GV80 midsize SUV. It doesn’t look as dynamic as that vehicle, with a more upright, limousine-like style. It’s squared-off in profile, with anodized aluminum trim along the rocker panels, the window surrounds, and the lower grille. The Neolun model extends that trim to the false B-pillars between the first and second rows. At the front, a pair of light bars comes together like a mouth and leaves two additional strips on each fender. At the rear, the design is smooth and slightly rounded, with light bar taillights that echo the front-end design. It’s all set on 22- or 24-inch wheels, and the 24s are standard on the Neolun. With the Neolun’s forged monoblock-style wheels and additional metallic trim, it takes on a bit of a Mercedes-Maybach look.
Powertrain
Genesis installs a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive electric powertrain in the GV90. Together, the front and rear motors make 657 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque. Front and rear electronic limited-slip differentials are included to help put the power down effectively. The GV90 gets a large 123.5-kWh battery that Genesis says provides 310 miles of range. EPA figures weren't available at the time of writing, but the company says it can charge from 10–80% in 22 minutes on a 350-kW fast charger. It comes standard with a NACS port to connect to Tesla Superchargers and Genesis hasn’t released a towing capacity.

Interior
The 2028 Genesis GV90 has an extremely luxurious cabin. It can seat six or seven in the standard model with three rows of seats and available second-row captain’s chairs, or four in the Neolun Executive Suite version. Leather upholstery is standard and the Neolun gets semi-aniline leather. Expect all the creature comforts, such as heating, ventilation, power-seat adjustments, and standard or available massage. Available trim materials will include wood, stone, and wool cashmere, and the controls include crystal buttons and a crystal rotating dial. Genesis will even upholster the GV90 in several two-tone colors, including gray and purple, navy and purple, green and brown, and beige and saddle brown, among others. Aside from the coach doors, the Neolun’s most distinctive feature is its front seats that can electronically rotate 180 degrees to face the second row. That second row has tables, heated and cooled cupholders, massaging seats, a wireless phone charger, a refrigerator, roll blinds, a partition to separate the second row from the cargo area, underfloor heating in the footwell, and a panoramic sunroof that can change its opacity. The Neolun also has radiant warmers in the first- and second-row console armrests, side panels, and door trims. Genesis hasn’t announced cargo capacity figures, but expect lots of room in the standard GV90 with folding second- and third-row seats. The Neolun will have less total space, but likely more room behind the second row.
Technology
The GV90’s cabin houses some unique technology. It has no digital instrument cluster; instead, there's a 25-inch head-up display and a 23.6-inch center touchscreen. When the vehicle is parked, the touchscreen raises by 2.4 inches to turn it into a 24.6-inch screen to better display entertainment content. That doesn’t sound much bigger, but Genesis claims it is actually 70% larger. The touchscreen runs the brand’s new Pleos Connect infotainment platform powered by the Android Automotive Operating System. The system allows drivers to converse with the onboard Gleo AI agent to look up information. The cabin also has ambient lighting and a 25-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio system. There's also standard navigation, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual wireless phone chargers up front, and more.
Safety
Genesis hasn’t announced the full set of driver-assistance features, but it said the GV90 will have remote automatic parking and a memory reversing feature to allow it to back out of parking spaces and alleys that the vehicle has traveled before. Also expect the full slate of safety features that should include forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitors (likely with blind-spot cameras), rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, a surround-view camera system, and more. Genesis says the GV90 will have 12 airbags, including an industry-first roof airbag that covers the full roof. The side curtain airbags cover the full length of the cabin, and the company says the GV90 has an in-cabin monitoring system that identifies the type of occupant in each seat and can optimize seat belt and airbag control during collisions.
Pricing and Release Date
Genesis hasn’t announced pricing for the 2028 GV90 yet, but this certainly looks like a six-figure vehicle, and the Neolun could be $150,000 or more. In addition to the features mentioned above, the GV90 will come with adaptive dampers, air suspension, rear-wheel steering, and acoustic glass in all the windows. It's due on sale in early 2027.
