The Land Cruiser is an icon in the Toyota lineup, known for its off-road capability, longevity, and durability. After a three-year hiatus, it returned in 2024 with a retro look and modern tech. Positioned as a premium midsize SUV, it competes with the Land Rover Defender, the Lexus GX, the Ineos Grenadier, and the Jeep Grand Cherokee. The 2027 Toyota Land Cruiser has just two trims: Land Cruiser 1958 and Land Cruiser.

What’s New for the 2027 Toyota Land Cruiser
The Land Cruiser was reborn for the 2024 model year, so there are no big changes for the 2027 model year. New for this model year are two available features: a high-mounted air intake and heated and ventilated second-row outboard seats. Additionally, there is a new exterior paint color on both trims, Inked, which is essentially black.
Design
The rebooted Land Cruiser offers two distinct looks depending on trim. While the 1958 has round LED headlights and a signature Toyota heritage grille, the upmarket Land Cruiser has rectangular LED headlights and Rigid color-selectable LED fog lights. Standard wheels on the 2027 Land Cruiser are 18-inch alloys with a dark gray metallic finish, while 20-inch wheels are available on the top Land Cruiser trim. There are no real appearance packages of note, but it’s worth pointing out that the 1958 trim only has black, white, and gray color options, whereas the Land Cruiser trim offers Heritage Blue and Trail Dust paint in both solid and two-tone finishes.
Powertrain
The 2027 Land Cruiser comes with a single, hybrid-only powertrain. The i-Force Max hybrid system includes a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine and an electric motor integrated into the transmission housing. Total system output is 326 horsepower and 465 pound-feet of torque, while maximum towing capacity is 6,000 pounds. EPA estimates suggest the Land Cruiser should return 22 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway. This is a body-on-frame SUV with standard full-time four-wheel drive (4WD), and it has center and rear locking differentials, along with standard Multi-Terrain Select and Crawl Control functions on both trims, while a front stabilizer disconnect mechanism is available on both trims.

Interior
The 2027 Toyota Land Cruiser is a five-passenger premium midsize SUV with 46.2 cubic feet of cargo space behind the second row and a maximum capacity of 82.2 cubic feet. Black cloth seats are standard on the 1958, but on the Land Cruiser trim, shoppers can choose leatherette or leather seating surfaces in black or brown. A sunroof is not available on the 1958, but is optional on the top trim.
Technology
The 2027 Land Cruiser may look retro, but it's packed with standard modern amenities. These include an 8-inch infotainment screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, SiriusXM satellite radio with a three-month trial subscription, a 7-inch digital cluster, three-zone climate control, and six USB ports. On the Land Cruiser trim, there are standard tech features such as a 12.3-inch infotainment screen, a 12.3-inch digital cluster, an enhanced Multi-Terrain Monitor with selectable views, power-adjustable front seats, and a driver’s memory seat. Optional features on this trim include a wireless phone charger, a console cool box, a head-up display, the ability to use a phone as a key, illuminated running boards, and a 14-speaker JBL premium audio system.
