Think of the Subaru Trailseeker as an all-electric Subaru Outback. It has standard all-wheel drive (AWD), rugged looks, body cladding designed to absorb the occasional off-road bump, and is shaped halfway between a wagon and an SUV. It’s related to the Subaru Solterra and the Toyota bZ, and an almost identical vehicle is sold at Toyota dealerships wearing the bZ Woodland badge.

What’s New for the 2027 Subaru Trailseeker
The Subaru Trailseeker was an all-new release for the 2026 model year, and there aren’t any updates for 2027 besides some tweaks to the electric machine’s off-road circuitry to account for the addition of new front and rear acceleration sensors. As before, the Trailseeker will be available in Premium, Limited, and Touring trim levels.
Design
The Trailseeker shares much of its structure with the Subaru Solterra but it's more than 6 inches longer and almost an inch taller, so there’s additional room inside for passengers and cargo. The exterior will be familiar to Subaru owners, with blocky shapes, interesting creases in the bodywork, chunky body cladding, and a well-designed roof rack that can hold up to 700 static pounds. The Trailseeker’s front fascia may be its most striking design element; slash-shaped lighting clusters sit atop a faux grille that’s punctuated by an illuminated Subaru emblem that incorporates the brand’s six-star Pleiades logo. A set of 18-inch wheels is standard for base Premium models, but 20-inch wheels come standard with the Limited and Touring trims.
Powertrain
A pair of electric motors sends 375 horsepower to all four wheels through Subaru’s Symmetrical AWD system, which means the Trailseeker can dash from 0–60 mph in just 4.3 seconds. Those motors are powered by a 74.7-kWh lithium-ion battery pack, which is charged via a North American Charging Standard (NACS) port. It’s capable of charging speeds up to 150 kW, which is sufficient to go from 10% to 80% capacity in as little as 28 minutes. Subaru’s X-Mode system comes standard and features snow/dirt and deep snow/mud modes. Grip Control and Downhill Assist Control functions are also standard, and it can tow up to 3,500 pounds.

Interior
The Trailseeker’s blocky exterior look continues inside, and a squared-off steering wheel and chunky center console give it a utilitarian look. The rear seating area is sized to accommodate adult passengers, and there’s a substantial cargo area measuring 31.3 cubic feet behind the rear seats. With that seat folded flat, storage space expands to 74 cubic feet, which is impressive for the segment.
Technology
A large 14-inch touchscreen display mounted directly in the center of the dashboard handles infotainment duties. The software, which is similar to that of modern Toyotas, is easy to use. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity are standard, and a pair of wireless chargers is included for front-seat passengers. A smaller 7-inch screen, mounted in front of the driver, serves as a digital gauge cluster. A six-speaker sound system comes standard in Premium models, while Limited and Touring models get an upgraded 11-speaker Harman Kardon system.
