What’s New for the 2027 Nissan Kicks
Since the Nissan Kicks was all-new in 2025, it doesn’t receive any big sweeping changes across the lineup for this model year. However, what Nissan does do for 2027 is add the Rock Creek trim to the Kicks lineup. Built off of the SV trim, the Rock Creek adds more features and technology designed for off-road driving. The new Kicks Rock Creek will come standard with all-wheel drive, an exclusive Off-Road driving mode, and hill descent control as well as some unique design treatments.
Design
The 2027 Nissan Kicks has an upright stance with sharp edges and a unique vertical stack front lighting signature that echoes the one found on the Nissan Murano. The base S trim comes with 16-inch steel wheels, but 17- and 19-inch wheels are available as you level up in trims. The Rock Creek model is differentiated by exclusive 17-inch black alloy wheels, gloss black exterior accents, a roof rack with cross bars that can hold up to 165 pounds, and amber daytime running lights.
Powertrain
The Nissan Kicks is equipped with a 141-horsepower, 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine paired with a continuously variable transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard, and all-wheel drive is available on all trims. EPA estimates that the FWD models will get 28 mpg in the city and 35 mpg on the highway, with AWD models getting 27 mpg and 34 mpg, respectively. All trims of the Kicks have 8.4 inches of ground clearance, but the new Rock Creek adds an Off-Road mode with unique traction tuning and hill descent control to aid drivers in mild off-road situations.
Interior
The interior of the Nissan Kicks is a mix of modern and traditional with a large infotainment screen combined with physical-touch buttons and dials for HVAC and audio controls. Technically, the Kicks is a five-passenger vehicle, but four passengers will be more comfortable in this subcompact crossover. Cloth seats are standard with leatherette seating surfaces available in the top SR trim. The Rock Creek adds TailorFit (synthetic leather) seats and steering wheel as well as Rock Creek-branded floor mats. Though a moonroof isn’t standard on any trim, it is available in both the SV and SR premium packages. For a vehicle on the small side of the spectrum, it’s worth noting that the Kicks has a decent cargo area with up to 29.2 cubic feet of space behind the second row and up to 58.5 cubic feet behind the first row in the FWD models. AWD cargo space drops slightly to 23.9 and 50.1 cubic feet, respectively.
Technology
One of the surprising things about the 2027 Kicks is the amount of technology you’ll find on this affordability-focused crossover. Standard features include a 12.3-inch infotainment screen, a four-speaker audio system, two front USB-C ports, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a standard 7-inch digital color display. Available features include a wireless phone charger, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, two USB-C rear ports, heated front seats, heated steering wheel, a Wi-Fi hotspot, NissanConnect services, a myQ Connected Garage Door opener, a 10-speaker Bose sound system, and a 12.3-inch digital cluster.
