The Jeep Grand Cherokee is a two-row midsize SUV that checks a lot of boxes, ranging from some off-road chops to near-luxury amenities. What’s New for the 2027 Jeep Grand Cherokee
The Grand Cherokee received a major refresh in 2026, including a revised grille, a new front bumper, updated LED lighting, upgraded tech, and a new powertrain, so the 2027 model year is largely a carryover with some new trims, fresh wheel designs, and new exterior colors. Both the Overland and Trailhawk trims return for 2027, and the Laredo Upland is completely new with a focus on value and Trailhawk-inspired looks. Base Laredo and Laredo X trims get a new standard 10.1-inch infotainment screen and the 4xe plug-in hybrid model has been dropped from the lineup.
Design
The Grand Cherokee maintains Jeep’s signature upright design, and the updated grille and lighting signatures give it an elegant appearance. Standard wheels are 18 inches, with 20- and 21-inch wheels available on higher trims. Because each trim has its own design character, there are few appearance packages on the 2027 Grand Cherokee, but the top-tier Summit trim does offer a two-tone paint option as well as an Obsidian Package, which includes 21-inch black aluminum wheels, painted door cladding, and black exterior accents.
Powertrain
There are just two powertrains available on the Grand Cherokee for the 2027 model year: the 3.6-liter V6 and the turbocharged 2.0-liter Hurricane four-cylinder. The Laredo and Laredo X come standard with the V6, and all other trims get the Hurricane four-cylinder. Rear-wheel drive (RWD) is standard, and four-wheel drive (4WD) is available on all trims. The maximum towing capacity is 6,200 pounds, and if you want the most off-road capability, look at the Trailhawk, which has 11.4 inches of ground clearance, an adaptive air suspension system, off-road driving modes, a two-speed transfer case, an integrated off-road camera system, and all-terrain tires. Depending on the engine and drivetrain, fuel economy ranges from 18 to 21 mpg in the city and from 25 to 26 mpg on the highway.
Interior
The two-row Grand Cherokee seats five passengers and has 37.7 cubic feet of cargo space behind the second row, with a maximum capacity of 70.8 cubic feet. Cloth seats are standard, but leather seats are available on upper trims. A single-pane sunroof becomes standard starting on the Laredo X trim, and a dual-pane panoramic sunroof is available starting at the Limited trim. While the Laredo is fairly bare bones, the Laredo X gets standard heated front seats and a power liftgate.
Technology
Standard tech features include a 10.1-inch infotainment screen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a six-speaker sound system, a 10.25-inch digital cluster, dual-zone climate controls, front- and second-row USB ports, and a Wi-Fi hotspot (subscription required). Available features include a 12.3-inch infotainment screen, a 10.3-inch front-passenger screen, a head-up display, a wireless phone charger, ambient lighting, a nine-speaker Alpine audio system, a digital rearview mirror, a surround-view camera system, and night vision. A 19-speaker McIntosh premium audio system comes standard on the top-tier Summit trim.
