The Dodge Durango rolls into 2027 as an SUV old-timer, first debuting in its current generation in 2010 for the 2011 model year. It’s an old-school large sport utility vehicle that's at its best when powered by a Hemi V8 engine, but buyers who want brutish power will have to put up with oversize fuel bills.

What’s New for the 2027 Dodge Durango
Although it rides on a platform that’s been around for more than 15 years—yes, if it were a human, the Durango would be old enough to drive—Dodge has updated the Durango SUV several times over the years, most recently in 2021. Not much changes for 2027, but perhaps that’s a good thing, as the Durango’s sales figures have been rising in recent years. A new Brass Monkey package is offered on the 2027 Durango GT Hemi, featuring unique fender badges and wheels. The Durango R/T 392 model gains a new Plus package, a Blacktop Redline package, forged Brass Monkey wheels, red seat belts, and, on the Premium trim, yellow brake calipers. Finally, the Durango Hellcat offers a new six-passenger seating setup with black Nappa and suede seats, along with two new sets of optional wheels.
Design
The Durango’s muscular shape is a common sight on American roads. LED lights front and rear give it a distinctive look, especially from the back with Dodge’s Racetrack Taillight design. Various Blacktop packages add black exterior elements, and there are 14 different and optional wheel designs. The Durango SRT Hellcat Jailbreak model is offered in 10 exterior colors and one of six sets of stripes or a black-painted hood, six wheel options, and four brake caliper colors. Dodge says there are more than 14 million customization combinations on offer.
Powertrain
All 2027 Dodge Durango models are now powered by V8 engines paired with eight-speed automatic transmissions and equipped with all-wheel drive (AWD). The 2027 Dodge Durango GT Hemi gets a 5.7-liter Hemi V8 engine with 360 horsepower and 390 pound-feet of torque—enough grunt for a 0-60 run of 6.2 seconds. The Durango R/T 392 features a 6.4-liter Hemi V8 that produces 475 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque, propelling the big SUV to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds and through the quarter-mile in 12.9 seconds. At the top of the range is the SRT Hellcat, boasting a supercharged 6.2-liter Hemi engine. With its 710 hp and 645 lb-ft, the Durango SRT Hellcat can roar from 0-60 in 3.5 seconds on its way to an NHRA-certified 11.5-second quarter-mile time. The 2027 Dodge Durango can tow 7,200 pounds in its base configuration, and as much as 8,700 pounds with the available Tow ‘n Go package.

Interior
Dodge has managed to keep the Durango’s interior up to date with several improvements over its long production span. There are digital screens, of course, but overall, the 2027 Durango’s cabin is well appointed with real buttons and knobs. The layout is ergonomically friendly and attractive. There’s plenty of room in the first and second rows, and the third row offers an acceptable amount of space for children or occasional adult use. With the two rear rows folded flat, the Durango offers more than 85 cubic feet of cargo space, which is a good number for its class. Interior finishes vary by trim level, with the base Durango GT Hemi wearing black cloth inside. The Plus package adds Nappa leather bucket seats. The GT Hemi Premium gains a leather-wrapped instrument cluster, a suede headliner, and forged carbon-fiber interior accents. Similar Plus and Premium packages are available for the R/T 392 model, which also offers a Blacktop Redline package with Nappa and suede performance seats. The top-shelf SRT Hellcat gets Nappa leather and Alcantara seats (with no third row), while the Jailbreak package opens up five-, six-, or seven-passenger seating options along with five interior seat colors to choose from.
Technology
The 2027 Dodge Durango comes standard with a 7-inch digital gauge cluster and a 10.1-inch touchscreen running the automaker’s latest Uconnect 5 infotainment software. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also standard. In addition to the normal infotainment functionality drivers have come to expect, Dodge also offers Performance and SRT Pages on the central touchscreen that allow drivers to monitor various performance statistics, such as cornering and acceleration figures.
