The Chevrolet Trax was redesigned in 2024 and is currently in its second generation. It competes in the entry-level subcompact SUV class against the Nissan Kicks, the Honda HR-V, the Hyundai Kona, the Toyota Corolla Cross, and the Mazda CX-30. The Trax is focused on affordability, so it's only offered as a front-wheel-drive (FWD) model, whereas its competitors either have standard or available all-wheel drive (AWD). It has five trim levels: LS, 1RS, LT, 2RS, and Activ.

What’s New for the 2026 Chevrolet Trax
After skipping the 2023 model year, the Chevrolet Trax received a complete overhaul in 2024 with a sleek exterior design, an updated interior, and lots of new technology. Both the 2025 and 2026 Trax have essentially been carryover models, and the only change for 2026 is the availability of two new colors: White Sands and Apex Red.
Design
Prior to the redesign, the Chevy Trax had nondescript, bubbly styling. Now the subcompact SUV has long, sleek lines and standard LED headlights. Standard wheels are 17 inches and 18-inch wheels are available. The LS and LT trims offer a Blackout Package that includes black emblems, accents, and wheel center caps—but that's it for appearance packages.
Powertrain
The FWD 2026 Trax is equipped with a 1.2-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine that delivers 137 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque, paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. Fuel economy is 28 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway and the Trax is not rated for towing.

Interior
The Trax is one of the roomier five-passenger subcompact SUVs, with 38.7 inches of rear legroom and a maximum cargo capacity of 54.1 cubic feet. It has an attractive, upscale interior for an entry-level SUV; standard seats are black cloth with blue accents, but red-accented cloth seats and leatherette seating surfaces are available on upper trims. A sunroof is available as a standalone option starting on the 1RS trim.
Technology
The 2026 Trax has a standard 8-inch infotainment screen that includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Other standard tech features include cruise control, a four-speaker audio system, remote keyless entry, two front USB ports, a SiriusXM trial subscription, a Wi-Fi hotspot (subscription required), and a 3.5-inch digital information center in the gauge cluster. Available tech features include an 11-inch infotainment screen, a six-speaker audio system, a wireless phone charger, an 8-inch digital cluster, two rear USB ports, an eight-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, remote start, and keyless entry.
