Its the perfect size SUV. Plus, even the 3.5L V6 (FWD) gets roughly 22 mpg in mixed driving! The ride is nice and stable.
My last car was a 2006 Hyundai Sonata, which lasted to 250K miles! The engine starts right up and gets 25 mpg average (30 mpg on the open road), with the 4-cylinder, FWD.Oct 27, 2022

This is a great family vehicle without being a van. Also impressive as personal vehicle. Pickup is awesome. You sit up a little higher than a sedan, so visibility is greater. It also safer than a sedan, not only because it is AWD, but also because so many vehicles are higher today. It is very convenient for those times when you need to pick up something you just cannot fit into a sedan.Feb 14, 2015

We have enjoyed this car. It has been reliable with low maintenance costs and good gas mileage (averaging ~24mpg) with primarily 'in town' driving. It has good interior room for our family of 4 with ample cargo space. We have also frequently used the storage space under the cargo area. The cups holders, vents, speakers in the rear are also convenient. Jan 29, 2015

It has been a dream of mine to one day own an SUV. I am so glad this one became my first. It has never let me down mechanically and it's ecstatically pleasing to look at. Other than the terrible gas mileage, I can't say anything else bad about this particular vehicle. I love it!Sep 03, 2014

We were needing to replace a 10 year old station wagon. I really wanted a TDI VW Sportwagen, but found them to be out of our price range. I had never really thought about a Hyundai Santa Fe as a possible replacement, but upon looking at a few, really started liking them. It really has all the practical passenger / cargo attributes we liked about our old station wagon without being a STATION WAGON. Not to mention the fact that there were lots more Hyundai Santa Fe's floating around on the used market than there were used TDI VW Sportwagens that were within our used car budget.
Upon doing some internet looking on Car Gurus (and others) I determined that a 2007-2009 Hyundai Santa Fe Limited with a V6 was what I wanted. While certainly no powerhouse SUV, it is plenty adequate as a daily driver, grocery-getter, all around all purpose vehicle. We have been very impressed with the build quality, low noise levels at highway speeds and overall feel of the vehicle. Steering is light, but predictable, and there is not a lot of bouncy, swaying sensation while driving as I remember from SUVs of the past.
If you are in need of a good all purpose family vehicle - don't dismiss the Santa Fe's just because of a perceived negative impression of the Hyundai name. I'm sure surprised after having actually driven one. There are a ton of these out there for sale, so be picky like I was and find a good clean one with the equipment you want. And, now since the new 2013 Santa Fe's are out (new body style) this generation 2007-2012 should be even more affordable and available as current owners trade them in on a new one.Sep 05, 2013

I absolutely LOVE this vehicle. It is great on gas and is very reliable and awesome features. Hyundai has one of the best warranties and their customer service is amazing. I would recommend this the Santa Fe to a friend.Jul 20, 2013

Loads of pep, and the gas mileage is pretty decent with the V6 and the AWD. There is a nice option to lock the transfer case for true 4WD. The 18 inch wheels look good, until you have to buy tires, and the handling is pretty good for a smaller SUV. The Limited Edition has all the bells and whistles, including heated seats, power sunroof, reclining rear seats and power/heated mirrors to name just a few. A respectable towing capacity is also a bonus for anyone wanting to tow a small tent trailer or maybe a quad or snowmobile for that weekend getaway. Overall, not a bad vehicle. I'm still looking forward to getting it really off road to see how it handles some mud and snow.Oct 08, 2012

My wife's '08 Santa Fe Limited AWD has 85,000 miles on it and has been great. Can't beat the cost, we bout it new (as a dealer demo) for $25,000 and it has Everett option including 3rd row and rear seat entertainment.
Did have to have the idler pulley replaced but that was pretty cheap, other than that everything is stock including breaks (not tires).
I would recommend and will look at Hyundai again when it is time to replace my old beater. May 22, 2012

When we first settled on the Santa Fe I didn't love the look of it, but it's grown on me over the years. The interior is comfortable and looks good. I did like the 3.3L V6 as soon as I test drove it. I find the brakes a little soft, but I have no complaints about the handling, and we've had no major issues in 5 years and 63k miles.Apr 23, 2012

There is nothing I dislike about this vehicle and that is saying quite a bit. I got the base model and am quite satisfied. If you buy this vehicle I am confident you will be as satisfied as I am. For the price you can't go wrong.Apr 22, 2012

Very powerful and responsive and I have achieved 28 mpg on a 3 hour road trip. My wife really likes the size, large enough to feel roomy inside, but easy to manuver in parking lots. Love the Bluetooth sync... can play songs right from my android phone and sounds better than the radio.Feb 28, 2012

It has enough power to have the get up and go, excellent handling - especially in
the snow, excellent price for quality and package. It is roomy and comfortable
and I don't feel squished. The warrenty is amazing from Hyundai and I always
get great service there.Sep 24, 2011

I love the look, the leather interior, the size, the inside lighting, and it is very safe and roomy for my growing family. It has proven to be very reliable to get me to and from work. There is still room in the backseat with my daughter's carseat to accomodate other passengers. Jun 29, 2011

I've driven this SUV for the last year and a half. It handles very well in all kinds of weather conditions. During a recent snow storm, the AWD lock feature, the stability control, made it very easy to feel safe. I'd easily purchase 2 of these cars as daily drivers for my wife and I. She however drives so many miles, we're looking to get a bit better MPG. We average around 22MPG with 80% highway 20% city driving. The style is much better than most "family" cars, with easy access to the back seat/storage areas. Maintenance on the car is typical, however, 0 major issues have happened in the 60,000 miles we've put on it. Performance lacks a bit in acceleration, but it's easily overshadowed by the comfortable quiet ride. This is my second Sante Fe, and I'm open to finding another one in the future.Feb 17, 2011

Overall: 5 Stars
Great value for the money!
Performance: 5 Stars
Excellent acceleration with the 275 HP V6. Brakes and steering seem to work real well. Ride is a little bit bouncy at times due to standard 18 inch tires.
Build Quality: 4 1/2 stars
No squeaks or rattles. But the tailgate doesn't always close on the first few attempts and the key FOB doesn't always open all the doors with two quick clicks.
Appearance: 5 Stars
Restyled front nose for 2010 makes the exterior look of this car a real winner. Front dash, leather interior and blue tooth are awesome!
Cost of Ownership: 5 Stars
Got 23 mpg on the first fill using economode. Excellent warranty!
Fun Factor: 5 Stars
Outstanding acceleration and handling for a SUV, blue tooth setup, and lots of room with back seat flat on floor. Jul 30, 2010

I like everything about the car. Smooth and quick. Great engineering and style. Great warranty and value. Drives and rides like a more expensive car. Front wheel drive is excellent in snow. Don't see a need for AWD. Fun factor Scale 1-10, a 10. No negative surprises. 20 mpg all around driving. Excellent accelleration. Quick steering makes it easy to park.Dec 31, 2009
