The car aesthetically looked great.. however, it smelled like burning oil and the gas gage didn’t work properly. Felt like it was just about to breakdown..Sep 23, 2024

Love everything about, I never thought of Ford as a sporty car until I got mine. I get lots of compliments. Has plenty of get up and go for a 4 cyl. Handles great on the road. Hugs the corners.Feb 09, 2013

This car has been a great little car for my comute to work. It is not a family car. No room for a car seat. Nice trunk for a little car. Sirus and Sync have been GREAT to have. Awesome gas mileage.Nov 10, 2011

Performance is above average. I wish it had a bit more power. Maybe after I
install better exhaust, intake, and tweak the CPU a bit I'll definitely see a
difference in the power. Also once I lower and stiffen the suspension the overall
look of the car will be more aggressive...much like how I drive. Once the
performance chip is modified, the gas mileage should get even better. This is really
a fun car to drive along with your friends.Apr 06, 2011

Overall an awesome car. 2.0L twin cam powered engine. 5sp man transmission. light weight and the looks to boot. It has a ton of multi media support inc. blue tooth for your phone. Agile car and quite fun to drive. gets well over 40 mpg if your cruising down the highway "the right way" ;-) and putting around town takes a week and half to drain the tank.Sep 06, 2010

Performance:
Acceleration - Average for the compact class.
Braking - Good and even without ABS stops straight in panic situations.
Handling - Above average, very predictable and stable.
Build Quality:
Good, no squeaks or rattle. I did have to have the Audio Processor Interface
Module replaced but it was done for free under warranty.
Appearance:
Interior: Laid out reasonably well, materials are average quality. Styling (while
subjective) is restrained with very legible and intuitive radio and HVAC controls.
Exterior: Best viewed from a rear 3/4s view, the front end styling has been the
cause of controversy on the '08+ Foci.
Cost of ownership:
Very reasonable, the dealer I bought the car from has a tires for life deal so
I've only had to do oil changes and tire rotations...and I've already got a new
set of tires. As far as gas mileage is concerned the best I've ever got was
35.4mpg(mostly highway driving) with most tanks averaging 30mpg.
Fun factor:
This car is more fun than people give credit for, with it's IRS (unlike some direct
competitors that still use torsion beams) it's very tossable and stable, brakes
are good and acceleration in most situations is more than acceptable. Aug 22, 2010

Performance- it has very little. Since the car is quite sizable and the
engine quite small, it doesnt have much get up.
Build Quality- its a Ford. While everyone hails the progress of Ford,
they still have a lot of progressing left to do.
Appearance- its oddly proportioned.
Cost of ownership- the only redeeming value of this car is that its
cheap to buy and cheap to maintain.
Fun factor- It doesnt have a lot going for it in this category. Its
suspension, while insanely firm going over bumps is also extremely
wobbly through corners. Aug 17, 2010

I bought my focus brand new in 04 and I love it! I have almost 200000 miles on it and it still runs like the day I bought it. It handles great in snow. I love the fact that it is easy on gas. Not crazy about the looks of it but everything else is great! It is alot of fun to drive. I have the zts model and it has lots of get up and go. Mar 08, 2010

Love this car. With a mix of street and freeway driving I am
averaging over 31 mpg (manual transmission) and that's with
a semi-heavy foot. This is an outstanding commuter car.
I love the sync. The bluetooth phone feature is very easy to
use along with the voice usb feature for my ipod. I really like
the appearance of the car. I have the SES model with the 17
inch wheels and spoiler.
The handling is phenomenal for a car that gets easily 30+
mpg. The sport suspension on the SES is highly worth the
upgrade. The ride is surprisingly smooth considering the 17"
wheels with 45 series low profile tires.
Performance is very reasonable again considering the
mileage it gets. I have no problems accelerating on large hills
on the freeway and can easily maintain 80+ mph on those
hills. Passing can slightly be a chore but is not a problem
with a little room.
I purchased this vehicle as a commuter but I truly enjoy
driving it. Feb 22, 2010

The Focus quality was much higher than other brands we looked at (Kia, Aveo, Pontiac). For the money, the Focus SEL was loaded with everything we wanted including a leather interior and SYNC system for hands-free bluetooth operation of our cellphones.Jan 15, 2010

Performance: pretty good performance, really good handling, good braking, decent acceleration for a little 2.0 L Wagon
Build Quality: well im just under 100 k and i have only had a little electrical issues with the hatch, other than that no problems
Appearance: love it, its the sharpest looking wagon I've seen. love the interior as well.
Fun Factor: I love cars so really i find almost any car fun to drive, but i do enjoy this one much more than my Tempo RIP LOL :PJun 10, 2009

I had this Focus as a rental car for about 4 weeks in
Summer 2008. I originally wanted a hatchback or
small wagon, because I had to do business in
several locations in France and Germany, and as an
engineer I carry some heavy toolboxes.
Hatchbacks weren't available, so I had a choice of
this or a Renault convertible. I took the Focus, and
it was awesome!
The engine is a bit weak for the heavy car, but it
cruises at 120 mph easily if no big grades are
involved. Even with the roof down, it's quiet enough
at speed to use the bluetooth handsfree. (with the
wind deflector up)
Excellent Sony stereo.
I ended up doing more than 10,000 km in this car,
and the seats are definitely good enough to still be
relaxed after sitting in it all day.
Fuel economy wasn't great - 9L/100km on average
- but that was mostly fast driving.
Handling is not as good as in the hatchback, but
still big fun. The steering is communicative and the
5-speed manual gearbox slick - a 6 speed with a
taller top gear would be better though.
With a diesel engine, this would be a pretty
awesome all-rounder.Apr 07, 2009

I love my Focus. It has nearly 70,000 miles on it and it is still running like it did when I drove it off the dealer's lot. The performance is acceptable for a 2.0 liter 4-cylinder and the handling is excellent for an econobox. It sometimes feel as though I'm driving something sportier the way it grips corners. It also feels like a much larger car that it looks from the outside. The interior space in my car is comparable to that of most mid-sized family sedans of the mid-90s. My Focus is solid as a rock, the only problem I have is an occasional squeak when I'm going over one of the 5 million speedbumps in my apartment complex, but other than that, nothing. My car hasn't needed any repair work so far mostly because I have taken my car to a Blue Oval certified shop every time I needed anything done including oil changes, tire rotations, etc. As far as cost of ownership, this car has truly spoiled me. Even when gas was $4 a gallon, I was paying less than $30 to fill up. It has excellent gas mileage, so getting gas is a once-a-week thing for me which usually average out to $12-$15 to fill up from a quarter of a tank. The Focus is definitely a fun car to drive, all I can say is go to your local Ford dealer and ask to test drive one. I am certain that you would fall in love with the car like I did with mine...Nov 20, 2008

I really like my car, I've had it for some months and I still have not found anything negative to say about it. It is very good looking, it's performances are pretty good, the build quality is very good and the price is very attractive for all those qualities. I recommend it. We own three focus in my family, it proves we are very satisfied with that car.Nov 13, 2008

The car drives like a dream, if feels stable, safe and at the same time very sporty and aggressive! The style of the wheels complement the curves of the body. I have been doing about 9.5 km/l since i bought it, did approx 4000km's. The interior is very executive but at the same time also a bit plain, it doesn't have leather seats as you would come to expect from this model. Being a tiptronic also helps especially when you sit in traffic, there the car really drives smoothly.I would recommend buying one.Aug 19, 2008

I love it! Great acceleration, breaking is good considering i don't have the ABS system and handling is great, i don't feel like i'm gonna go off the road if i'm driving a bit too fast. It's a brand new car so there is no maintenance to be taken care of. I love the interior and the exterior stylings. It's a great gas conserver at about 34-35 MPGs. Overall a very fun and safe car to drive, has lots of airbags and many extras for the somewhat little money i paid for it. Great buy!Jul 28, 2008

I have the 2007 ST, it is not the Euro spec ST (as in Volvo 2.5 turbo), but it's powered by Mazda developed (2.3). Its power and specially low rpm torque is more than adequate, better still can be easily improved. The car handles great and is very comfortable to drive at high speeds. It's very stable and responsive (the euro spec ST & SVT heritage helps here). Brakes are also very good with 4 wheel disk and ABS.
The winter package adds traction control & heated seats (toasty).
The optional Sony speaker stereo w/ the sub sounds great.
Overall I found the car very well optioned for the price.
It's a normal every day car, but they don't have to be boring. This one is surely not--I look forward to drive it as much as possible!Jan 21, 2008

I have owned all sorts of vehicles....Dodge...Ford...Toyota...Chevy...Mazda and BMW. I have never, ever enjoyed a vehicle as much as I enjoy this one. The cabin is SUPER quiet, even when shifting gears(can barely hear the engine)and the shifting is smooth as butter. It handles awesome, the ride is very soft, has plenty of power, the seats are very comfortable, the Microsoft SYNC easily plays all my Artists on my Wolverine 5160(160GB). It took about 5 minutes or so to index all the files, but when it finished, I asked it to play whatever artist I wanted and it responded beautifully. Hands-Free phone conversation is another Gem with this vehicle. The person on the other end can hear your voice perfectly. This is the real Bluetooth! I have the Audiophile system and music sounds awesome with the built in Subwoofer in the trunk. Also, Ambient lighting is great as well. Do yourself a favor. If you want to get a great vehicle that is inexpensive, but has quality to boot, please look into this car. You will not be disappointed. Did I mention that this car gets around 35 miles per gallon as well. I am so happy about this car....Can Ya Tell? It's perfect in every way. Jan 21, 2008

I bought this car because I needed a small standard shift car that was affordable to buy and cheap to run and something I wouldn't mind spending lots of time in. So far it has been all that and more. The car is all set up for our Canadian winters with traction control, abs, heated mirrors and seats (awesome feature). The sound system is great, the steering controls for both radio and cruise is awesome. The seat raising up and going down as well as back and forth combined with the tilt/telescoping steering wheel makes it feel like a much bigger car even for guys my size and bigger (6ft, 240lbs). I would recommend this car to anyone.Dec 12, 2007
